Because of Why? Part II

Sustaining a relationship where both parties are not able to make full disclosures for own convenience is simply a time bomb and a scandal in the making. For Georgren and Lorna, this was soon to change from a relationship to a situationship. Georgren was this family man occupying this top C-suite job. He could not scandalize his persona.

I hold a personal thesis that when a woman meets a man she likes, her guard drops proportionate to the trust level she develops. At start, she may be well guarded, but as the engagement continues, and as the man is a lot more available, she grows her trust and eventually becomes very vulnerable. Worse still, if the man offers to listen and provide for her needs – whatever they are.

This is my opinion. I could be very wrong.

For Lorna, she gave her whole to Georgren, but only withheld her health info from him.

Picture this: it’s the usual Friday night and the two love birds are having a cozy time. Lorna has a big agenda up her sleeve – to take on the path that Merce had taken earlier and have a baby with her clande – but she doesn’t know how to bring it up. She is torn between asking for permission (before the act) and asking for forgiveness (after the act). She has prepared for this day. The hormones are raging like a wild fire. She wants a baby like yesterday. Would Georgren allow?

Telepathy would play a big part in the events that night. Georgren had wanted to use this evening to set clear the rules of engagement. Lorna’s demands had started weighing heavy on him.

“Lorna, I have cherished all the moments we have had. Unfortunately, I am not able to sustain this. My family is suffering the consequences of my randy ways. I have to bring this to a stop”. Georgren was as brunt as he could. With that, he sipped his last and walked out of Lorna’s house. He thought he had been final.

Back in his car, he felt a heavy burden lifted off his shoulders – so he thought. He drove straight to his favorite joint, ordered a double shot Jack Daniel’s on the rocks in the company of his boys. He was done with Lorna.

Lorna was in shock. How was Georgren going to call it off just like that? Her plans were shattered. She was shattered. She was devastated. Who was going to fund her now entrenched lavished lifestyle? What was she going to tell her squadron? That was going to be a long night.

Lorna was not done. How Georgren found himself back to Lorna’s house that same evening remains a mystery he regrets to-date. VAR had ruled in Lorna’s favor. Tonight, is the night, she thought. It was some lovemaking that only Shakespeare can explain.

The days that followed were harrowing to both parties. Lorna had a troubled pregnancy. Yet she was determined to carry the baby to term. But where was Georgren at this time?

Fast rewind …

As soon as she broke the news to Georgren that she was expecting his baby, he was quick to suggest terminating the pregnancy. He was not going to have a baby with Lorna. Far from it. On her part, she thought he would be excited about it and support her through the pregnancy. It was urgent that she makes known to Georgren her pre-existing medical condition – something that worsened the trust levels.

“How could you hide all this from me all this while?” Georgren asked on this day he was called into ER on the day she was taken ill. This was an emergency and the doctors wanted to know the father of the baby as part of patient management.

“I am sorry I was afraid you would leave me if I told you of my health condition”, Lorna responded.

Lorna had been advised by her gynae earlier in her 20s that she would need to be extra careful if she conceived that she would need extra care as she was a very likely candidate for pre-eclampsia. She knew it, but chose to ignore. She was now in HDU. The bills were soaring by the night and her employer did not have a staff medical scheme.

Every single day that passed was hell on earth for Georgren. There was no more fun, except managing hospital visits and paying bills. Lorna’s health was on the brink of collapse. By the 2nd trimester, she had survived 2 miscarriage scares.

But let’s cut him some slack:

  • He owned up and took responsibility;
  • He manned up and stood by her;
  • He was worried of his reputation and the brand damage if he bailed out and the story leaked out.

The choices he had made were beginning to have consequences on him and those around him. Georgren was losing it. The stress levels were on the rise. It was evident at home that something was wrong with him.

…. to be continued ….
